Christ Church - Maneroo

The Christ Church Anglican Church, Cooma is part of the Parish of Cooma and the Diocese of Canberra & Goulburn. Built in 1845, it is the oldest Christian worship building on the Monaro, located just beyond the outskirts of Cooma. Bishop W G Broughton, the first and only Bishop of Australia, drew up the plans, chose the site, laid the foundation stone and signed the contract for the construction of this church.

The church was consecrated by Bishop Broughton on 23/2/1850. Regular worship ceased in this building when St Paul's Cooma was completed in 1871/2. Special services are held occasionally.

A cemetery on two sides of the church is the resting place of many of the early district pioneers.

Christ Church is located at:

151 Maffra Rd, Cooma, NSW 2630.

St Paul's - Cooma

St Paul's was sited on a prominant hill overlooking the developing township of Cooma. The church was completed in 1872, the nave being consecrated by Bishop Thomas, the first Bishop of Goulburn, during the incumbency of the Ven. Archdeacon Druitt. Until 1891 the nave had no tower, - but on October 21st in that year, the last stone of the spire was laid by Mr. C. F. Welch, then Mayor of Cooma.

136 Commissioner Street, Cooma, NSW 2630.

This is also the site of the Church Hall, the Parish Office and the Rectory.

St Andrew's - Jerangle

One of the earliest known references to Jerangle was in Gazette number 45, dated April 6, 1850.  In the Gazette a John Cutmore is listed as claiming the “Gerangle” run of 17,920 acres and a grazing capacity of 4000 sheep.  From there development continued with the site where the village now stands providing a focal point for people on properties in the area.

St Andrew's was built in 1875 to serve the growing local community.
