The Word of Life

Welcome to the Anglican Parish of Cooma and our website.

As well as providing information about who we are and what we do together, we want this to be a place where people can hear the best news in the world.

One of Jesus' first disciples, a man named John, wrote these words which are recorded in the Bible:

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched - this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
1 John 1:1-3

Christian church communities come in many shapes and sizes, each with their preferred ways of being and doing. They express their particular senses of purpose with a rich variety of vocabulary. But one way or another they owe their very existence to Jesus, who called the church into being 2000 years ago, with a mission to make him known to people everywhere.

That's what Anglicans have sought to do on the Monaro since the earliest days of settlement. That's why we're still here. Ours is the most significant mission on planet earth - not because of who we are, but because of who God is. It's his work we do.

We'd love for everyone to know this Word of life, as John called him, and the sense of purpose that knowing and serving him brings. Why not check us out, discover the Word of life, and join us in mission?

Yours because his,

Martin Christensen (part time locum)
